Gujarat Parivartan Party thwarted BJP’s aim to win 150-plus seats in the Gujarat Assembly elections: Keshubhai Patel

Accepting his party's defeat, Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) president and former chief minister Keshubhai Patel on Thursday claimed he had thwarted BJP's ambitions to win 150-plus seats and that he wanted this fact to be noted by the saffron party and its leaders.

In a press statement after declaration of results, the GPP chief said the BJP had won elections by use of money and political power.

Stating that his party was set up a few months before elections and hence, he could not win the confidence of the people, he said "the people had voted BJP again to power in the hope of one of their representatives becoming the prime minister".

Crude bombs found in HC premises

Ahmedabad: A day after letters sent to the High Court and city courts threatened bomb blasts there, two crude bombs were reportedly found in the premises of the Gujarat High Court on Thursday, triggering panic. The security officer in the court noticed two crude bombs hidden near one of the court gates and alerted the bomb squad, which rushed to the spot, police said.

Road mishap: Close shave for SRPF men

Ahmedabad: As many as 50 State Reserve Police Force jawans sustained minor after their bus met with an accident on their way to a counting centre in Ahmedabad Thursday. The mishap occurred near Jetpur in Rajkot district when the driver of the bus suffered a heart attack and died. The bus was coming from SRPF training college in Chowky Sorath of Junagadh.

Having lost to Modi, Shweta Bhatt claims 'victory'

Ahmedabad: Shweta Bhatt, wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, lost to Chief Minister Narendra Modi from Maninagar constituency in Ahmedabad by a margin of 86, 373 votes.

Bhatt, who fought on a Congress ticket, said she was fighting to change people's mindset and push them to speak against the wrong.
