Haryana head constable booked for raping nurse

A Haryana police head constable Devender was booked on Monday on charges of raping a nurse posted in Civil Hospital in Hisar district of Haryana. His wife Kusum has also been booked on charges of criminal conspiracy.

As per police, the staff nurse (36) lodged a complaint on Monday and alleged that Kusum called her for tea on Sunday evening. "After consuming the tea, I fell unconscious. I believe that the drink was mixed with some intoxicant, taking advantage of which Devender raped me," the victim alleged in her complaint. According to police, she then informed her husband and the matter was reported to the police. She was medically examined late on Sunday night in Hansi Civil Hospital.

The victim also alleged that the accused threatened her and her family of dire consequences for revealing the matter.

"Though we have registered the case, we are still taking the complainant's version with a pinch of salt, as both the accused were well known to the complainant and her family. Both the accused are yet at large," a Hisar police spokesperson told The Indian Express.

Devender is posted in Rohtak and had come on a leave on Sunday.
