Hashim Amla

South African batsman Hashim Amla, who was the highest run-getter in the series against England with 335 runs, has consolidated his position in the ICC ODI ratings as the No 1 ranked batsman, followed by Virat Kohli in 2nd position and AB de Villiers in 3rd.

Amla's overall rating of 901 is the highest of his career and is the eighth best in history.

He currently averages 59.55 and holds a clear edge over his nearest competitor, Virat Kohli on 858 points.

Other batsmen to have passed the 900-point mark include Brian Lara, Javed Miandad and Vivian Richards, who holds the record with 935 points.

Gary Kirsten is the only South African batsman to have reached the milestone.

Proteas one-day captain AB de Villiers has made no movement from third place, although his performances during the series have helped him accumulate his highest ranking points of 852, Sport24 reports.

The latest rankings also see Dale Steyn return to the top 10 of the bowling rankings, with spinner Robin Peterson moving up 12 places to a career-best 29th. Peterson was the highest wicket-taker of the series with seven wickets, and continues to impress with the ball after returning to the international fold in 2010.

He has taken 39 wickets in 25 matches for the Proteas since October 2010, and sits with a career-best 575 rating points.

Seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe has moved down from No 1 to No 3, with Wayne Parnell making significant strides to position 44, up by 16 places.
