HBT’s retrenched workers protest at Adhikary’s house

The retrenched labourers of cargo-handling firm ABG-led Haldia Bulk Terminals (HBT), belonging to Congress, on Monday demonstrated outside MP Suvendu Adhikary's residence at Tamluk, demanding jobs as they have got nowhere to work after ABG's pull out from KoPT.

Noor Alam, a retrenched labourer, said that two months have passed but they have not been inducted in any private cargo-handling company. They threatened widespread agitation against the TMC government and will gherao Writer's Buildings on January 10 as the government has failed to provide them jobs. "Adhikary assured us jobs, but till now we have not got any job," said Sheik Shiraj, a retrenched labourer.

Around 342 labourers demonstrated outside Adhikary's house. They claimed that Adhikary did not met them even though they protested for two hours.
