Health matters: Diabetic clinic for children

Management of Type 1 diabetes presents with a unique challenge in children due to irregular diet and unpredictable physical activities. India is home to an estimated 98,000 children with the disease. With the increasing disease burden and associated issues regarding management of this illness, Endocrinology unit of Department of Pediatrics under the guidance of Dr Sanjay Lalwani (HOD of Department of Pediatrics) and Dr Vaman Khadilkar (Senior Pediatric Endocrinologist) will start a Diabetic Clinic for Children in Bharati Hospital, Pune. The team consists of Dr Rahul Jahagirdar (Incharge, Endocrine Unit, Associate Professor), Dr Ruma Deshpande (Asst. Prof), along with a dietician, staff nurse trained in diabetics, social worker and a child psychologist.

Yoga session

Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute will conduct the seventh International conference: Yoga for the Youth between December 27- 30 December, 2012 at Lonavala. The conference aims to provide classical and contemporary perspectives to the ancient science of yoga. It will focus on their self-development besides promoting inter-communal, inter-religious and international harmony for better and happy living. The conference will be conducted mainly in English with some presentations in Sanskrit, Hindi and Marathi. The relevance of various prevailing methods of yoga such as Vinyasa, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Hatha and Iyengar among others will also be discussed at the conference. The conference will be inaugurated by the Governor of Maharashtra, Mr K Sankaranarayanan.

Laser clinic opened
