HUDA’s housing plot scheme likely to be delayed by 2 months

Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has asked its field staff to 'do more spade work' in identifying the disputed plots in developed sectors. Its plan to seek applications for allotting nearly 2,000 residential vacant plots in five districts of the state is likely to be delayed by two months.

"Before launching the housing plots scheme, we have asked our field staff to give details about the plots that are under litigation or have any dispute," Administrator of HUDA, Surjeet Singh, said. "And it is because of this exercise, that the launching of the housing plot scheme is likely to get delayed. We don't want any problems after launching the scheme," he added.

Under the 'balanced plot scheme', HUDA plans to offer nearly 2,000 plots - ranging from four maralas to one kanals - in Faridabad, Gurgaon, Panipat, Bahadurgarh and Panchkula, in the first phase. HUDA had planned to launch the housing plot scheme on new year's eve.

According to Haryana Urban Development Authority officials, the plots under the upcoming scheme will be available at a price far less than the market rate and is likely to attract lakhs of applications" "The plots will be offered at the official price of the year in which the housing scheme was floated"," said an official. He claimed that the plots have every basic facility and are located in prime localities" "These plots are located in developed sectors and have basic facilities like road, water connection and electricity," the official added.

Sources in HUDA said that the plots to be allotted had been identified by HUDA field staff during a state-wide exercise. So far five districts have forwarded the list. The other districts are likely to submit the details of vacant plots soon.

In 2009, under the 'balanced plot scheme' Haryana Urban Development Authority had received lakhs of applications for allotment of nearly 4,000 plots.
