Husband, sons kill woman’s ‘lover’

A 35-year-old man was allegedly murdered in broad day light at a sweets shop in Rayya on Tuesday by a man and his two sons. The police said Harjinder Singh, a resident of Bahadarpur village, was killed by Kamaljit Singh (40), and his sons Jugraj (17) and Sukhraj (15) The victim was reportedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons, inflicting around 20 injuries on his face and neck, and killing him on the spot. Amritsar (Rural) SSP Preetpaul Singh Virk said Harjinder was murdered after Kamaljit "learnt that he had an illicit relationship with his wife". The accused were arrested immediately after the incident.

Demarcate area for arms depot: HC

Chandigarh: Taking up a petition pertaining to illegal construction near Gurgaon arms depot and Faridabad air force ammunition store, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday directed the Municipal Corporations of both the districts to demarcate the area within two months. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain also directed Faridabad and Gurgaon MC commissioners to suggest ways to remove illegal construction on February 27, the next date of hearing.

Cong leaders question Capt leadership

Jalandhar: Several leaders from Doaba region who had quit BSP and joined Congress ahead of Assembly polls in Punjab, Tuesday questioned the leadership of state party chief Capt Amarinder Singh and demanded that the high command appoint an able leader to lead the party. MPS Goraya, Surjit Singh DFO, Sukhbir Singh Shalimar, Dinesh Chander Chojar and Jaswinder Jassi also demanded action against Dalit leaders from the region who, they alleged, have shown the disrespect towards Dr BR Ambedkar.
