Hyderabad youth held in Jammu, police probe his role in blasts

A 36-year-old man from Hyderabad was arrested by Jammu Kashmir Police at Ramban when he was roaming there under suspicious circumstances last evening.

Identifying him as Mohammad Salahuddin son of Mohammad Safdhar of Hyderabad, sources said that he was married and had three children. He was a post graduate in economics and had been a frequent visitor abroad, they said, adding that an Indian passport was seized from him.

During his preliminary questioning, the police have not so far found anything connecting him with the blasts in Hyderabad, a senior police official said on terms of anonymity. Pointing out that his questioning was in progress,he said that Hyderabad police have been contacted and they have confirmed his disappearance from his native place since January 26.

While a police team from Hyderabad is coming to Ramban to take his custody, the police official said that he has so far told them that he had left home and boarded a train to Delhi following an altercation at home. From Delhi, he came to Valley where he spent some days and was returning to Jammu at the time of his apprehension at Ramban last evening.
