IGP awards officials, residents for helping police solve crimes

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday felicitated residents and police officials for helping to solve cases in the city.

Parveen, Vikash, Naresh Kumar and PCR vehicle staff head Constable Rajbir, Constable Sachin and a home guard Lakhbir, who helped the local police in apprehending a criminal on February 2 and recovering a stolen three-wheeler, were awarded. The residents were awarded Class-II certificates, along with cash of Rs 500 each and the police officials were awarded Class-III certificates, along with Rs 250 cash.

Constable Sandeep, Home Guard Baban and Joginder, staff of a PCR vehicle had acted promptly on PCR call and rounded up a jeep on February 3 while creating nuisance in Sector 5. The three were rewarded with commendation certificates of class-III along with cash of Rs 250 each.

Also, PCR vehicle staff who helped the police in recovering an unclaimed rickshaw rehri loaded with iron steel from Transport light point were given commendation certificates class-III along with cash of Rs 250 each.

For apprehending three persons for stealing shuttering iron plates on February 4, Head Constable Niranjan, Constable Om Parkash and Constable Deepak were rewarded with commendation certificate class-III along with cash of Rs 250 each.

In another incident on February 4, the PCR staff who helped the police in apprehending five persons while they were creating a nuisance in public at Sector 17, Local Bus Stand were rewarded with commendation certificates class-III along with cash of Rs 250 each. The staff included Sub Inspector Jarnail Singh, Constable Amit, woman constable Munesh and Punam.
