Itís Subrata who was shown yellow card, says CPM

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Surya Kanta Mishra on Saturday said Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee, who had criticised the Governor for his comments on political violence in the state, has himself been shown the yellow card by his party. "Those who wanted to show the yellow card to the Governor have been showed the yellow card themselves. He has been asked to keep his mouth shut," Mishra said without naming Mukherjee. Governor Narayanan's comment on "goondaism" while referring to political violence in the state had drawn sharp reaction from Mukherjee who had reportedly boasted of showing the "yellow card" to the Governor. Addressing workers of tea gardens at a programme here, Mishra alleged they are paid very badly.

'Indian scientists akin to Italian mafia '

Kolkata: A group of scientists, under the banner of Forum Against Monopolistic Aggresion (FAMA), on Saturday hit out against the present scientifice community calling them Italian mafia. Prof PM Bhargava, former vice-chairman of National Knowledge Commission and a reputed molecular biologist said: "As it turns out in India today, science is not managed or done by the best possible experts. It is done by a scientific mafia, operating in the same fashion as the Italian mafia operates. Anyone who will not support what the members of the mafia say will not be able to rise. Even if the person is brilliant and has ideas, the mafia will work against the person," he said.
