Jammu & Kashmir: Samba terror attack; Pakistan boy held

Three months after terrorists from Pakistan killed four armymen including a lieutenant colonel among ten in attack on an army camp at Samba and a police station in Hiranagar, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a teenager from near the international border when he was trying to return across the international border after an over two-year long stay at Hariyachak in Kathua district.

Significantly, Hariyachak is the same place near the international border where armed fidayeens from Pakistan had first hijacked an auto on gun point and proceeded to Hiranagar police station. The BSF has handed over the Pakistani national to police who are questioning him.

Identifying the boy as Imran, 15, son of Gafoor of Sahiwal district in Pakistan, Kathua Superintendent of Police, Mohan Lal, said that boy had crossed over to this side two and a half years ago and he had been staying at the kullah of a Gujjar Hassan Din as his domestic help. The local people knew him as Raju of Uttar Pradesh.

Hassan Din, who gave shelter to Imran by giving him a fake identity, too has been arrested by police for questioning. The Gujjar did not disclose about the stay of Pakistani national even when security forces and the police conducted searches in Hariyachak area after twin terror attack on Hiranagar police station and the army camp at Samba.

During his preliminary questioning, the boy has revealed that he had crossed over to Indian side when he was 12 and he had been staying at the kullah of Hassan Din as domestic help. However, he decided to return home in Pakistan as the latter had been subjecting him to hard labour.

However, it is not the first time that police have come across a Pakistani national who had been staying in the state with fake identity.
