Jamnagar man puts Gadkari in dock over Vivekananda remarks

A man has filed a complaint in a Jamnagar court accusing BJP president Nitin Gadkari of hurting religious sentiments by his controversial remarks equating the intelligence quotient of Swami Vivekananda with that of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

In a complaint filed in Jamanagr Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday, Harshad Bhatt, who is the district Congress spokesman, alleged that Gadkari had hurt the sentiments of devotees and followers of Swamiji. He has made BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitaraman a co-accused for allegedly trying to save Gadkari.

The complaint has been filed under IPC section 295(A) and 298, which pertain to causing religious hurt.

The matter will be heard on November 9.
