Jasjeet’s brace sets up N Railways win

A brace by Jasjeet guided Northern Railways to a 9-4 win over Chandigarh Hockey and Football Academy in a league match of the 42nd SN Vohra All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament being played at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

The match began on an attacking note as Sajjan Singh scored the opening goal by succesfully converting a penalty corner for the Northern Railways team in the third minute of the match. The early goal meant that Chandigarh Hockey and Football Academy forwards also made counter attacks and their efforts paid dividends. Mukul scored the equaliser for the Chandigarh team in the tenth minute of the match. The next minute saw Northern Railways forwards making another attack into the opposition half and Jasjeet scored his first goal of the match in the 11th minute to make it 2-1 in favour of the Northern Railways. KC scored another goal for the Railways team as he netted a field goal in the 14th minute of the match. Raminder scored the second goal for CHFA in the 25th minute of the match to make it 2-3 in favour of CHFA. Three minutes later, Ram Prakash increased the leeway for Northern Railways as he scored a field goal to make it 4-2. Vivek Dhar scored the fifth goal for Northern Railways in the 33rd minute with the team leading 5-2 at half-time. Jasjeet scored his second goal of the match straight after half-time when he sounded the board in the 37th minute of the match. Prem further extended the lead when he scored a field goal in the 43rd minute of the match. Later in the half, Northern Railways scored through Prem Kumar and S Besan while CHFA scored through Mukal and Kanwaljeet with the Northern Railways winning 9-4.
