PATNA: An Army jawan was arrested late on Saturday night for alleged sexual harassment on the New Delhi-bound Awadh Assam Express. The police said the incident took place when the train was crossing Dalsingsarai in Samastipur when a Garhwal Regiment jawan, Dinesh Singh, tried to molest a fellow traveller belonging Vaishali district of Bihar. The girl raised an alarm and passengers overpowered the jawan and handed him over to Samastipur railway police.

Woman's body found hanging from tree

PATNA: A 40-year-old woman, who was allegedly gangraped, was found murdered with her body hanging from a mango tree near Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district. The victim, who the cops said was mentally unstable, belonged to Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. The police said the woman had boarded the Brahmaputra Mail on Saturday at Alipore station for New Delhi from where she was to visit her daughter at Kurukshetra in Haryana. The woman was accompanied by her 10-year-old son and two relatives. She reportedly jumped off the train near Sahibganj railway station.

Lecturer held for sexual harassment

LUCKNOW: A college lecturer has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman passenger on the Kashi Vishwanath Express. Rajan Vishwambhar, 30, who teaches Chemistry at a private college in Moradabad, was arrested Saturday night in Lucknow by the Government Railway Police following a complaint by a 25-year-old woman who was travelling in the same coach, the police said. In her complaint the woman alleged that Vishwambhar passed vulgar comments at her and made indecent gestures.
