Judgment may be delivered today
Special MCOCA judge is likely to deliver the judgment in the Sagar Sahani kidnap and murder case against 11 accused on Thursday. Sagar (22), son of businessman Satinder Sahani from Nigdi was kidnapped on August 14, 2005 and was found murdered ten days later on the Mumbai-Vapi highway, a day after his father had paid Rs 15 lakh ransom thorough hawala channels in Mumbai after negotiating with a Dubai-based gangster named Aabid Ali.
The crime branch had arrested 15 of the 16 suspects in the case.
The trial began against 11 suspects viz. Joganalsingh Choudhary, Arvind Vitthalbhai Choudhary, Bhikubhai Yanki, Jitendra Modha, Shamad Boga Gadhvi, Ajay Gadhvi, Dinesh Tukadiya, Chhotu Rajput, Shantilal Modha, Shamsuddin Mohammad Kunni and Nitin Modha on June 21, 2011.
Of these, Shantilal Modha was released on bail, while Shamsuddin Kunni has been absconding. While two others — Mohammad Ali Abbas Ali and Prasad Jagannath Shetty — are out on bail.
The judge had separated the trial against Aabid Ali as he is lodged in a jail in Hyderabad.
A red corner notice has been issued against the 16th suspect, Vicky alias Aftab Alam Mohammad Ayub, who is reportedly based in Sharjah. Vikas Shah is the additional public prosecutor in the case.
The judgment was scheduled on Wednesday, but was deferred to Thursday by the court.
