Loksatta re-launches Thane city supplement

Loksatta, Indian Express group's Marathi publication, on Tuesday re-launched Thane city supplement — Thane Vruttant — and launched a new supplement Navi Mumbai Vruttant for the New Mumbai area.
Speaking on the re-launch, the group's brand head Shankar Rao Shinde said, "Centers around Mumbai are becoming increasingly important and, as a region, Thane is culturally very strong. Also it is the fastest growing emerging market in India with huge business potential."
Shinde said the two key factors in exploiting the Thane market were to get more readers by contemporising the paper and increasing the share of advertising revenue and getting non-advertisers to advertise. "Our target is to double our revenue in the next two months," he said.
Thane Vruttant, which had 32 pages on Tuesday, will have eight pages. The revamp of the supplement will aim at making it youth-friendly and local in content. To achieve this, Loksatta has appointed citizen journalists and college-going reporters.
Navi Mumbai Vruttant, which had 24 pages on the launch day, will have six pages subsequently. It will also focus on local news and feature content that the readers find relevant.
The main paper, Loksatta, is also expected to go in for a design makeover early next year.
