MCA expects software glitches to be sorted in a week
The corporate affairs ministry is expecting that the technical glitches that have cropped up in the MCA 21 website will be fixed by next week. It has also roped in Tata Consultancy Services as a consultant to assist the new technology services provider for the website — Infosys.
"Coding issues have led to the glitches. While many of the services have been restored, we are confident that the rest of the glitches will also be fixed soon, ensuring the smooth running of the MCA 21 website again," said a senior official of the ministry of corporate affairs.
Launched in 2006, MCA 21 portal is the key platform for companies for submitting the required documents and filings to the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Besides, the website provides public access to corporate information.
Infosys took over the contract of handling MCA 21 on January 17 this year from TCS, which had been responsible for the development and management of the website for the last seven years. But the transition has been less than smooth and companies have faced problems in accessing the MCA 21 website and even uploading documents due to slow speed.
While TCS was expected to help in the initial transition, it was called back again to help the Infosys team tackle the software glitches experienced in the MCA 21 services. "There were technical issues being faced by Infosys and so TCS was asked to help out," the official said.
Meanwhile to get the services up and running again, a team of officials from the government's own National Informatics Centre as well as the department of information technology are also reported to be helping out.
"Infosys will not be able to offer comments on this, we request you to please contact the concerned authorities at MCA," a company spokesperson said in response to a query on the nature of problems being experienced at the site.
