Melinda Gates meets UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, discusses recently signed MoC

Melinda Gates, Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to discuss the recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the state government and the Foundation.

Gates called on the chief minister at his official residence here and discussed several issues related to bilateral and technical cooperation in health, nutrition, agriculture and other development areas and sectors in the state, officials said.

The chief minister appreciated the support provided by BMGF in the sectors of Health, Agriculture and Financial inclusion which in turn will lead to overall development and betterment of the people.

Under the memorandum, the foundation will provide support through-non-government organisation and other public-private sector partners in the areas of reproduction, maternal, and child health, nutrition, and vaccine-preventable and other infectious diseases.

Further areas of support include improving agricultural productivity and expanding financial services for the poor.
