Narendra Modi a monster, Trinamool has pact with him: Buddha

Former chief minister and CPM politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Wednesday called BJP prime ministerial Narendra Modi a "monster who has presided over the 2002 Gujarat pogrom" while alleging that the Trinamool Congress and the BJP were in a covert pact in West Bengal.

"Manmohan Singh will not return as prime minister and the man who is coming up is a monster called Narendra Modi. No other chief minister in the country had ever been accused of presiding over a pogrom in his state."

Nearly half of a CPM's memorandun to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dwelt on the tacit understanding between the two parties in the state.

Nearly half of the CPM's open letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dwelt on a tacit understanding between the two parties in the state.

"It is no secret that Modi and the Trinamool Congress have entered into an alliance. The TMC wants to reap benefits if the BJP comes to power in Delhi. Why doesn't the TMC declare its understanding with the BJP,'" Bhattacharjee said at a rally organised by the North 24 Parganas district committee of the CPM at Rani Rashmoni at Esplanade.

Bhattacharjee also underlined that so far as development was concerned, Modi was a myth. "All these stories about development in Gujarat are not factually true. People are saying forget about the riots, look at the development he had brought about in Gujarat. This is all false," Bhattacharjee said.

The letter, which was sent to the CM and read out at the rally, demanded that Mamata clear her stand on Modi.

"Why is Mamata not openly opposing Modi? What is her stand? She should clearly spell it out. The party, which does not have the strength to even fill Shahid Minar Maidan, is organising a rally at Brigrade Parade Ground (February 5), which will be addressed by Narendra Modi. Is it possible without the TMC's support?" the letter asked.
