A motorcycle carrying three people rammed a truck on National Highway 58, Ghaziabad, in the early hours of Sunday. All three on the motorcycle were killed.
The deceased, all residents of Vindo Nagar in Delhi, have been identified as Avinash, Peeyush and Neeraj. While Avinash was a court clerk in Delhi, Peeyush and Neeraj were college students, in Delhi and Dehradun, respectively.
Senior police officers said the incident was reported around 4 am in the Sihani Gate area of Ghaziabad.
"All three had to attend a wedding in Meerut and since they lived in the same locality, they decided to go together. They were returning from the wedding, when their bike crashed into the back of a truck," a senior police officer said.
According to police, eyewitnesses said that the Honda CBZ bike was being driven at a high speed. When a truck ahead of them applied the brakes to turn into a godown, the motorcycle failed to slow down and crashed into the truck. All three were thrown off the bike in the impact of the collision and died on the spot , police said. The bike skidded for close to 50 metres.
"All three suffered severe head injuries. They were declared brought dead when they were taken to the nearest hospital by local residents," a senior officer said.
Police said, so far no case has been registered and no complaint has been received.
"However, if a complaint is lodged, we will investigate the incident," a senior officer said.
