Mundka-Bahadurgarh line to be operational by March 2016

The 11.181 km-long corridor will become operational by March 2016. The construction of the corridor is set to tremendously reduce the travel time between Delhi and parts of Haryana — the commute from Bahadurgarh (City Park) to Mundka will take just 20 minutes, Bahadurgarh (City Park) to Inderlok will be 45 minutes and Bahadurgarh (City Park) to Kirti Nagar will only take 50 minutes.
The function was also attended by Dr Sudhir Krishna, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh.
The elevated Metro corridor, with seven stations will be an extension of the Inderlok-Mundka corridor (Line 5). Of the seven stations, four stations — Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border would be in Delhi. The remaining three — Modern Industrial Area, Bus Stand and City Park — will be in Haryana.
"It is a historic moment for Bahadurgarh as the foundation stone of the Metro project is laid between Haryana and Delhi. Bahadurgarh is a rapidly developing town and the Metro connectivity will further boost the growth here. The Metro expansion will ease congestion on roads," Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been also signed between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Haryana government. Urban Development minister said Rs 1,991 crore will be spent for the construction of the corridor, of which Haryana government will contribute Rs 912 crore and the remaining amount will be shared between the Centre and the Delhi government.
Officials added that a special project vehicle (SPV) Haryana Mass Rapid Transit Corporation shall be set up for the construction of the corridor. "The Delhi Metro has to concentrate on the work in the city. The construction of Metro in Haryana will be taken up by the new SPV registered under the Company's Act. The Delhi Metro will support the new SPV. With expansion of the Metro till Bahadurgarh, the ridership on the Mundka line will increase," Urban Development secretary Sudhir Krishna said.
The officials said the corporation for Haryana will be launched in six months. At present the process for appointment of full time directors and consultant is on. The board for the new SPV shall be made to study feasibility reports and the detailed project report for upcoming projects.
