Naidu and Mathere move into semis

Prachi Naidu and Ishwari Mathere upset seeded players to enter into the semis of the Champion Sports Trophy All-India Junior national Tennis Tournament organised by Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association and played at the MSLTA School of Tennis courts, Balewadi.

In the Girls under-16 event, 14-year-old Lonavala girl, Prachi Naidu upset fourth seeded Apurva Rokade from Pune 6-3, 6-4, while Pune girl Ishwari Mathere defeated Bhargavi Mandgudkar from Mumbai 6-3, 6-3 to move into the semi-finals.

In the girls under-14 event, Prachi Naidu upset fourth seeded Moksha Thukral 6-3, 6-4, while city girl and third seed Apurva Rokade edged out Neha Mokashi 7-6(3), 6-2 to make it to the semi-finals.

In the boys under-18 event, fourth seeded Armaan Bhatia from Maharashtra scored a comprehensive 6-0, 6-2 win over sixth seed Adhiraj Sandu from AP, while third seeded Neel Lapalikar beat his statemate and eight seed Yash Chawda 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 to enter in semi final round.
