New sex scandal rocks Australian military

Australia's defence force is investigating allegations that a cadet secretly filmed a sexual encounter with a fellow military student and broadcast it to his friends.

An 18-year-old woman told Australia's Ten Network that she had consensual sex with a fellow first-year cadet at the Australian Defence Force Academy, but says the man secretly filmed the encounter and transmitted it via Skype to six other cadets.

Defence Minister Stephen Smith said Wednesday that police and the defence department were investigating.

The scandal comes at a delicate time for the defence force, which was heavily criticized after racist comments made by Australian soldiers serving in Afghanistan were aired on social and broadcast media last month.
