Nokia adds 3 new devices in Asha category

Nokia on Monday unveiled a new series of Nokia Asha smartphones in the country with the launch of Nokia Asha 502. The range will be extended with two new smartphones to be launched next month Nokia Asha and Nokia Asha 503.

Targeted towards the affordable smartphone segment, Asha 500 will be available at a price of Rs 4,499, Asha 502 at Rs 5,969 and Asha 503 at Rs 6,799, respectively.

Nokia India director (marketing) Viral Oza said that around 25 million phones in the Asha series have been sold so far. The Asha 501 was launched in May this year and has become second-largest in terms of sales, he said.

Nokia Asha 500, which will be launched in December will be the lowest-priced smartphone while the Nokia Asha 503, which will be launched early January, will be equipped with a 5MP camera with flash and will offer the first 3.5G HSPA on the Asha platform.

According to IDC, smartphone sales in India has grown over three-fold to touch 12.8 million units in third quarter of 2013.
