In what is good news for post-graduate students of Panjab University (PU), vice-chancellor Professor Arun Kumar Grover on Wednesday launched the online system for submission of examination forms.
The facility will be extended to all post-graduate students of the university, University School for Open Learning (USOL), affiliated colleges and private candidates.
Over 35,000 students who would be appearing for the December, 2013 examination under the semester system are expected to be benefited by the move.
Though, the online system has not been made compulsory, it will be made mandatory from the next session.
Appreciating the move, Professor Grover asked the Director, Computer Centre, Dr Tankeshwar to set up a permanent help center for helping students and assigning duties to officials to promptly resolve any queries regarding the forms.
As per the online system, post-graduate students can file their examination forms by logging on to the website - http://pgexam.puchd.ac.in, where the students will be guided to submit the forms.
The form itself will be submitted in two steps, with the first step requiring students to submit their particulars and the second step involving downloading the bank slip and submission of fee. Also, students will be able to receive text message notifications if they provide a mobile number.
Controller of Examination (COE), Dr Parvinder Singh said the new initiative would benefit students in a big way.
He added all the under-graduate students of PU, its 188 affiliated colleges and four constituent colleges would be covered in the second phase of the project's implementation.
