Of silver linings

Mehr Jesia

I was never the one with a vision,

it was Tina who steered this growth story," remarked ace designer Tarun Tahiliani, last week, at a star-studded evening in Mumbai that marked the 25th anniversary celebrations of

Ensemble. One of the first multi-designer stores in the country, Ensemble was launched in the year 1987 by Tarun and later headed by Tarun's sister Tina Tahiliani-Parikh. Not surprisingly, the celeb fraternity showed up in full strength, making it an evening painted in nostalgia. Among those present were Arjun Rampal, Mehr Jesia, Sussanne Roshan, Arjun Khanna, Lisa Haydon and Queenie Dhody. The do also saw a retrospective with select creations from the collections of some of India's top designers, including Manish Arora, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Manish Malhotra and Abraham and Thakore (apart from Tarun Tahiliani). A short film capturing the journey of the store was also screened at the event.
