Ahead of the indefinite fast by Team Anna, Prashant Bhushan has served a legal notice to India Against Corruption (IAC) volunteer Gaurav Bakshi — who was earlier among the most visible faces of the movement — demanding administration access to the Facebook accounts of Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi.
The notice, dated July 22, says that in August last year, Kejriwal had asked Bakshi to start posting messages on his and Hazare's Facebook pages, but they later fell out.
"From October 2011, you not only started giving false information to media but you also hijacked the Facebook pages of Annaji, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi and started trying to discredit the movement on social media. You started posting messages that were damaging to the IAC movement," says the notice. "Through the Facebook page of Anna you have tried to repeatedly show that there are differences between Anna and Kejriwal. For example, you posted a message on the Facebook page of Anna that he was unhappy with Kejriwal's statement on the issue of a tie-up with Baba Ramdev and he would seek an explanation from him, which is completely untrue."
Bhushan has also attached a printout of the relevant page from Hazare's Facebook account, with a post titled, "Unhappy with Arvind Kejriwal's statement denying tie-up with Baba Ramdev...."
Both Bhushan and Bakshi confirmed the legal notice. "The notice speaks for itself," said Bhushan. In a written statement, Bakshi said, "I have been served with a legal notice by Arvind Kejriwal, Anna Hazare and Kiran Bedi through their advocate. I am currently taking legal advice in regard to the same and am under advice not to make any comments in regard to the said legal notice."
Earlier, Kejriwal had tweeted about a new Facebook page for the July 25 fast.
