Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care today reported 5.46 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 53.99 crore for its second quarter ended December 31.

The company had posted net profit of Rs 51.19 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, PGHHC said in a BSE filing.

Net sales during the quarter under review stood at Rs 470.57 crore, as against Rs 354.32 crore in the year-ago period, it added.

Sales during the quarter were driven by category expansion, consumer initiatives and pricing combined with a weak base period, the company said.

The PGHHC scrip was trading at Rs 2,500 on the BSE in the afternoon - 1.25 per cent down from the previous close.
