PU to roll out online exam redressal facility from next year

In a move to manage the rush of students from various affiliated colleges of Panjab University (PU) at the enquiry office or the Administrative Block of the varsity for examination-related problems, PU is preparing to introduce the Online Examination Redressal Mechanism from January next year.

Under the new process, a web portal will be formed on the university's official website where various examination-related problems and their respective codes will be mentioned. Students can use these codes to fill up an online form and send it to PU's examination branch through a specific e-mail ID.

A maximum time period of seven days will be allotted for disposing off the applications and the students will be informed about it online.

A list of 11 most common problems have been prepared which include collecting the Detailed Marksheet Card (DMC) after students fail to collect them from their respective colleges on time, rectifying errors in the candidate's particulars in the record, correction of spellings in DMC, status of their re-evaluation forms, fee-related issues of private candidates and checking the results in case of late declaration.

Talking to Newsline, PU Examination Controller, Parvinder Singh said, "Once a student submits his problem, the online portal will generate a slip containing the enquiry number, date and time of the submission along with the name of the official who will address it. This will ensure accountability and enable students to directly approach the concerned official."

At present, students have to either visit the Enquiry office or get an entry slip from the Enquiry office to visit the Administrative Block, which is otherwise not open to students.

Students from various affiliated colleges of the university, situated at far-off places, have to make a number of visits to the Administrative Block regarding such issues. A team of officials has already been constituted for the implementation of the process.
