Punjab force Karnataka to follow on

Punjab took the vital first innings lead as they forced Karnataka to follow on in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. After restricting Karnataka to 266 in the first innings, Punjab asked the host team to bat again after taking a huge lead of 227 runs on the third day of the match.
Earlier, led by a brilliant bowling performance from Jaskaran Singh, Karnataka were bowled out for 266 in 79.2 overs in reply to Punjab's mammoth first innings score of 493. Mayank Agrawal (70) and Abrar Kazi (72) were the main scorers for Karnataka. Mayan's knocks came off 118 deliveries with the help of ten boundaries and one huge six. On the other hand, Kazi took 146 balls to score 72 with the help of 12 boundaries. AB Sagar (35) chipped in with useful 35 runs.
For Punjab, apart from Jaskaran, it was Deepak Bansal, Taruwar Kohli and Kamal Passi who delivered with the ball and bagged two wickets each.
Following on, Karnataka did well in the second innings and their openers gave a sound start to the team. They were 106 for 1 when the stumps were drawn. Opener Mayank Agrawal was batting on 69 runs while R Samrath was dismissed after a fine knock of 25 runs. Jaskaran took one wicket.
