It was joy for Punjab team as they scored a ten-wicket win over Saurashtra in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match played in Rajkot.
Trailing by 213 runs, Saurashtra were bundled out for a total of 242 runs in 102.3 overs in their second innings. Opener S Patel and JJ Sitapura added 127 runs for the first wicket for the home team before Patel departed. Wickets fell at regular intervals after Patel's departure and the hosts could post a total of 242 runs in their second innings, setting a target of 30 runs for Punjab. JJ Sitapura was the top scorer for the hosts as he played a knock of 82 runs. For Punjab, Amritpal Bajwa claimed three wickets for 38 runs. He was ably assisted by Vinay Chaudhary who claimed three wickets for55 runs. Siddharth Sharma claimed two wickets for 38 runs. Chasing an easy target of 30 runs, Punjab reached the target without any loss. With this win, Punjab claimed seven points.
Earlier in the match, a superb century by Maninder Singh helped Punjab to take a huge first innings lead of 213 runs However, Saurashtra also gave a solid reply and were 83 for no loss on Monday.
