It poured throughout the post-lunch session on Day 4 at Kingsmead in Durban and the play could actually begin post-tea. As the rain subsided and South Africa came out to bat, they could not offer much resistance. Faf du Plessis and the last man Morne Morkel fell in a gap of just two deliveries. The hosts were bundled out for 500 posting a first innings lead of 166 runs. The floodlights were blazing as Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay walked out on the gloomy afternoon to face the fast and furious duo of Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander, who were right on target from the word 'go'.

The curious case of Sir Ravindra Jadeja

There were a lot of speculations and criticisms when MS Dhoni opted for Ravindra Jadeja over R Ashwin, who went wicket-less in the first Test at Wanderers in Johannesburg. Call it Dhoni's 'Midas touch' or sheer luck, his gamble paid-off quite brilliantly. The 25-year-old recorded his career-best figures of 6/138 as he claimed his second fifer in only six Tests. The all-rounder Jadeja already has Test 33 wickets in his kitty so early in his career.

Dale Steyn on the money

Love him or hate him, but you can't ignore him. That's Dale Steyn for you. With a lot of frustration piling on from the first Test, Steyn had returned with figures of 6 for 100 to help dismiss India for 334 in the first innings at the Kingsmead on Friday. In the second innings, Philander might have walked away with the wicket of Vijay, it was Steyn who bowled an almost hostile spell. He bowled four maidens and gave away just one run in the first spell of five overs. Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara seemed quite uncomfortable while offering befitting responses to the constant assaults from fast bowler. As the umpires brought out the light meters, Greame Smith brought in lightning fast Dale Steyn.
