Resolution underlines uniform DC rules within civic limits

The Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) city improvement committee on Friday passed a resolution making the development control (DC) rules in the city's draft Development Plan (DP) applicable to the newly merged areas in the civic limits.

"There were complaints of two different set of rules for construction in the central part of city and newly merged areas. This was being portrayed as injustice to citizens. Thus, there was a need for uniform DC rules," said Chetan Tupe, chairperson, City Improvement Committee (CIC).

He said the DC rules in the draft DP for the old city were prepared after a thorough study of development activities and it will be suitable to implement them all across civic limits.

The issue was raised as the civic body had to prepare a separate DP for newly merged 23 villages which did not include the city. The PMC had drafted DP for old part of the city while there was another DP for 23 villages with different DC rules, he said. Tupe said the civic administration has been directed to make amendments in the DP of the 23 merged villages and incorporate the DC rules prepared for the old city.

The uniform DC rules will enable implementation of cluster housing in the merged villages along with additional FSI for housing schemes, old age homes and slum rehabilitation projects.
