School notes: 14th Annual Sports Meet at DAV Public School, Thane

DAV Public School, Thane celebrated its 14th Annual Sports Meet with pomp and splendour on 11th and 12th December. Sri Rajeev Kumar, Manager , DAV Public School, Thane and Principal, DAV Public School Airoli, was the Chief Guest. Sri Harshawardhan Kathley, Vice- Chairperson, PTA, Shri Nilesh Shinde, Jt Secretary, PTA and Smt Meenakshi Iyer , Principal Sri Ma Vidyalaya were the guests of honour. The Sports Day commenced with the Guard of Honour presented to the Chief Guest by the members of the Students' Council accompanied by the Principal of the host school Smt Simmi Juneja. After flag hoisting, students from the secondary section presented a spectacular marchpast who were joined by the military cadets. Mass Drill, Taekwondo and Yoga demonstrations were presented by students. They participated with great excitement in track and field events. The ground echoed the triumphant yells of the winners.
Dr Sunita Manikrao Bamane and Shri Ravindra Rajaram Joshi, Members of PTA were the Guests of Honour for the prize distribution ceremony on the first day.Mrs. Shilpa Manmadkar and Mrs. Tanuja Shah, Members, PTA were the Guests of Honour for the prize distribution ceremony on the second day. The Retreat Ceremony brought to a close the Sports day. The event ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
'100 Glorious Years of Indian Cinema'
'100 Glorious Years of Indian Cinema' was the unique theme on which Sou. Laxmibai English Medium School of Mulund (E) celebrated their Annual Social Gathering with pomp and vigour at Kalidas Auditorium, Mulund (W) on 13th December. A record 800 students from primary and secondary sections performed to melodious hit numbers from 1950 till date. The event ended with a tribute to Yash Chopra.
Loksatta Yashasvibhav book distribution program
Loksatta - Yashasvibhav book distribution program was held at St. Catherine School, Andheri(w)" on 7th December. It was organized to distribute Loksatta - Yashasvibhava books to 10th standard students. The programme was facilitated by Shri Gurudas Kamat. Also present were Joshna Dhige corporator of ward 55, corporator Bala Ambekar of ward 56 and Ketan Shah, an expert on education. Around 1,200 students were benefited with this study syllabus.
