Sec 144 lifted, HJC rally in Sirsa on

The Sirsa administration on Saturday lifted Section 144 of the CrPC — not allowing the assembly of more than five people in an area — from the entire district, thereby, paving the way for the Haryana Janhit Congress to hold a rally in the in Sirsa on Sunday.

On Saturday as well, CRPF and Rapid Action Force personnel conducted a flag march in Sirsa town, which was limping back to normalcy after last week's clash between Dera Sacha Sauda followers and some Sikhs that left 12 injured.

"We have lifted Section 144 of CrPC from Sirsa. People are free to roam around in any part of the city now. The situation is peaceful and there is no apprehension of any law and order problem. The HJC will hold its rally as per schedule," Sirsa Deputy Commissioner J Ganesan said. He added: "As far as security is concerned, paramilitary forces and the district police personnel will remain posted at sensitive points. We have appealed to the people not to believe in rumours."

Meanwhile, with the HJC holding a massive show of strength in Sirsa — a INLD stronghold — Haryana Congress leader Hoshiari Lal Sharma on Saturday took a dig at HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi by saying: "How can HJC claim that they will get more than three lakh people in their rally tomorrow? The venue is only of 12 acres and can accommodate merely 12,500 people. The HJC, however, is claiming that they have pitched tents in 25 acres."

HJC is celebrating its fifth anniversary at Sirsa on Sunday and several BJP leaders are expected to address the gathering.

Yellow coloured canopies are being set up in Sirsa's Dussehra ground for the rally.
