Security for ministers in Sheila govt to go by Thursday

The Delhi Police, by Thursday, will withdraw security cover given to ministers who were part of the previous Sheila Dikshit government.

Normally, sources said, the procedure takes over a month. However, at a time when the incumbent government is refusing to accept security, the Delhi Police does not want to delay the procedure to withdraw security given to the previous regime and invite censure for the same.

Police sources said the security cover of six cabinet ministers of the Dikshit government will be withdrawn. Since Dikshit is a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) protectee, her security will be pruned to threat-based security.

As of now, the ministers of the present Cabinet enjoy the security of personal security officers and guards.
