Whirling Dances

Born in the south of Turkey in Antakya, Ziya Azazi has been a dancer for 20 years. Best known for his modern choreographies based on the whirling rituals of Sufi dervishes, he brings his show, Dervish in Progress, to the city for a performance at St Andrew's Auditorium, Bandra, on November 14. Classic Theatre

Based on the classic novel by J M Barrie, Akvarious Productions' play Peter Pan follows the story of the young boy who can fly, never ages and spends his time exploring the island of Neverland. The play will be staged at Prithvi Theatre on November 16 as part of the Prithvi Theatre Festival.

Textured Minds

Meyong Jaiwook, Swati Dayal, Bharti Verma and Devyani Jain, who are post-graduate students of Delhi College of Art, will hold a show of paintings and installations. Titled "Textures", the show will be held at Art Perspective in Lado Sarai till December 30. Contact: 40564889

Saint's Day

A solo play by Shekhar Sen, Kabeer traces the life and times of the saint-philosopher and shows how he challenged deep-rooted social evils with a "modern" mindset 600 years ago. The two-hour play contains 45 songs, with Sen expertly tackling themes such as Kabeer's marriage, his meeting with Sikandar Shah Lodhi and the influence of other saints on him. At Sirifort auditorium on November 23.

Picture Postcard

Douglas Venherpe, who left home 17 years ago to globetrot, shares his experiences with his parents back home through photographs. Aptly titled "In My Parents' Eyes", his collection of these photographs form a part of an exhibition at Alliance Francaise. The exhibition is on till November 24

Show Days

THIS year's Annual Chandigarh Theatre Festival pays tribute to three doyens of the stage Jaspal Bhatti, Dinesh Thakur and AK Hangal. Each, in his own way, added value to the stage. Organised by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, the seventh edition of the festival will be held at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, from November 11 to 18.
