SIT to investigate Gurgaon CJM wife's death, father alleges foul play

Two days after the Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) wife Geetanjali Garg was found dead with gunshot wounds, a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) under ACP Ashok Bakshi has been constituted to probe the matter. Bakshi said a report will be filed in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Geetanjali's her father alleged foul play in her death.

Pointing to the fact that her body had multiple gunshot wounds, he ruled out the police's suicide theory.

"Geetanjali was a strong woman. I spoke to her at 3 pm on the day she died. She was completely fine. The post-mortem report said the body had three bullet injuries and a wound on the head. If she committed suicide, she could not have shot herself thrice," Geetanjali's father Omprakash Agarwal said.

He said Geetanjali had done her schooling from the military school in Ambala and her MBA from Kurukshetra University, where she was among the toppers. She married Ravneet Garg in 2007 and has two daughters.

"We are a business family and were living in Ambala before we moved to Panchkula. She had problems adjusting... My daughter had called me on three to four occasions to tell me that she was unhappy in Gurgaon...," Agarwal said.

"The police told us that they are probing the possible involvement of two men. The circumstances leading to her death are suspicious. The body was found in the bushes near Police Lines, which is 3 km away from the CJM's residence," Agarwal said.

Ravneet Garg had earlier told police that his wife was unhappy in Gurgaon and such a drastic step had shocked him.
