Son of victim key witness: Police

He said money was not the sole motivation for the murders.

"Shaikh said he was fed up of Khatun taking drugs and drinking. After she talked him into taking her to his native, where his first wife lived, he decided to kill her. Of the Rs 9 lakh received from the sale of her Dharavi home, Rs 1 lakh each went to mothers of Shaikh and Khatun and her aunt. Shaikh has said they spent most of the remaining money in Kolkata, leaving him with only Rs 30,000. After the murder of the girls, he returned to his village and stayed there for six months. He went to Ahmedabad in search of work for a few months before returning to Dharavi last month," Kulkarni said.
