State board to revise maths syllabus three months ahead of final exams

Various education boards recently upgraded their syllabi. The Maharashtra state board too upgraded its maths and science syllabi for the current academic year. The syllabi finalised for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics at senior secondary level for 2012- 2013 board examination has certain additions and deletions. According to junior college teachers, too many additions have been made to the chemistry and biology syllabi. However, upgrade of syllabus for maths and physics is appropriate, the claim.

"Class XI students have shared with us their problems in coping with the upgraded syllabus. These students are still new to these changes. Little time is left for the board exams; the board officials have to review the syllabus and make necessary changes as soon as possible." said Bhuvaneshwari R, chemistry teacher from South Indian Welfare Society's (SIWS) college at Wadala.

State board's chairman Sarjerao Jadhav said, "We have taken great efforts to upgrade the syllabus. All the topics incorporated in the syllabus are on a par with other boards. However, we are still reviewing the other three subjects; changes will be made if necessary."
