Surat cops bring Sai to Ludhiana ashram

Surat Police on Monday brought Narayan Sai to the Ludhiana ashram of his father Asaram in Tibba village as part of investigations into the allegations of rape against him.

Narayan Sai had stayed at the ashram and the goshala, which is located in the same village, while he was on the run.

His supporters gathered in large numbers at the goshala, raised slogans in support of Narayan Sai and his father, and showered flowers on the cavalcade of vehicles. In view of the large crowd, Surat Police had to seek help from local police.

SHO Inderjit Singh from Dehlon police station asked the supporters to stand in a corner so that the police could complete their work. The followers complied. They shouted "Narayan Sai jai ho" and carried placards "Sai is innocent", but Narayan Sai did not look at them or wave at them.

The police also recorded the statements of goshala employees Paramanand and Arjun. Assistant commissioner Mukesh Patel led the Surat Police team, which included Inspector M D Chaudhary.

After the ashram and goshala, they also visited the civil hospital before leaving the city.

Businessman Raj Kumar Agnihotri, whose son Pankaj Agnihotri had earlier been questioned by the police in the case, said, "We have no idea about the police visit. We are just devotees of Guruji and have no role in giving him shelter. The police questioned us twice and we told them the same thing."
