Survey to identify Xth , XIIth dropouts next year: Maluka

Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Monday said that students who failed to appear in Xth or XIIth earlier would now be given aid of Rs 6,000 under a Central government scheme to complete their studies.

"In 2014, we will conduct a survey to look out for such children," said Maluka, who was at Punjab Agricultural University to overview the selection going on for the kabaddi team for the World Cup.

Maluka added that these students could take exams under the open school system.

Talking about the aided schools facing staff crunch, the minister said that either new teachers would be appointed for schools shortly or they would be merged with government schools.

On aided school teachers who have been on protest for many months, he said, "Their problem will be sorted out soon but they should continue their work."
