TAKE 12

Trust Anurag Kashyap to add a twist to the tale with his experimental take on cinema. For his next, the noted filmmaker has roped in 12 independent directors from 12 cities from across India. Titled The Last Act, the film is about a psychopath killer who leaves 12 (not less) clues around the victim's body for the police to solve the crime. Though the initial plot of this 120-minute-long project was written by Kashyap, the other directors were asked to make their short films around a clue each, to finally reveal the identity of the victim. Each film is 10-minute-long and actors Saurabh Shukla, Asif Basra and Shreyas Pandit have been cast in the film.

Of the 500 entries that reached Kashyap for this project, 12 were chosen based on the 10-minute films the budding directors had sent. Filmmakers Sudhir Mishra and Chakri Toleti also helped the Dev D director in making a choice. Interestingly, the 12 filmmakers have never met or spoken to each other. "We had seen The Last Act as just another collaboration, but it has taken such a big shape that it has stunned us all. It's an exciting shot in the arm for indie filmmakers," says Kashyap.
