Travel newsRafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic showcase their talent to promote one of Argentina’s greatest tourist attractions

Argentina Tourism Board recently hosted tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in a spectacular 'Tennis on the Glacier' exhibition match. The world's top two players move away from grass and take to play each other on a very different, exciting backdrop. The match took place on the world famous Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina. This stunning setting left the players as well as the spectators breathless.

The exhibition was organised by the Argentine National Institute of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), on behalf of the Argentine ministry of tourism, in order to promote one of Argentina's emblematic tourist attractions. The activity took place at Perito Moreno Glacier, in Argentine Patagonia, on a ferry mounted with a tennis court. Nadal and Djokovic, the number one and two respectively of the ATP world rankings, showcased their talent in front of one of the world's most breath-taking natural wonders.

"I never imagined I would find such an awesome place; this was a truly unique experience," said Djokovic. For his part, Nadal expressed via Twitter, "I've just been in one of the most spectacular places that I've ever seen, Perito Moreno is really amazing!"

Enrique Meyer, president of INPROTUR and the Argentine minister of tourism, said, "It is very important to do these kinds of activities which promote our country to the world. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are two icons of world sport, and this exhibition match puts Argentina on show before a global audience."

The minister added, "Argentina is ready to receive each tourist who decides to visit with a great variety of destinations, high quality services and first class sports events, such as the Dakar Rally or the MotoGP, which will be in Argentina in January and April respectively. Our objective, through INPROTUR, is to promote our country around the world, showing the great diversity of landscapes and experiences on offer for the visitor. Recently we have launched the new promotional website of our country, where anyone thinking of visiting Argentina can get information on the different destinations in our country and know which activities they can experience in each of these."
