While riding on the success of his Punjabi film, Carry on Jatta, and all set for the release of his next comedy, Lucky Di Unlucky Story, Punjabi filmmaker Sameep Kang has embarked upon a new directorial venture Bhaji in Trouble. Produced by Gurpreet Ghuggi's Round Square Productions, in association with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, the film is a comedy. "But not the one that cracks jokes and rushes only towards the end of the film," says Kang, insisting that this film is different from his earlier ones.
While Carry on Jatta was about love on-the-go, Bhaji in Trouble is about two men who know each other, and how they use the good and bad in each other. Shooting for the film which stars Ghuggi, Gippy Grewal, Khushboo Grewal and Om Puri started on Monday at the Chandigarh Golf Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Puri and Ghuggi expressed their disappointment with the Punjabi film industry. "There is too much of crass comedy in films. Just like anybody and everybody came and spoilt the music scene here, the same thing is happening in the case of films too," said Ghuggi.
Puri, however, is upset with the film industry in general. "We should not even think of comparing ourselves with the West. They make real films, subjects that are moving and stirring and not just meaningless comedies and item songs," he said.
