Depressed over his wife's prolonged illness, a 37-year-old man hanged himself. While in a separate incident, a contractor committed suicide as he suffered losses in business
A 37-year-old man hanging himself at his Gorai residence on Saturday. Police said the deceased, Prashant Vijay Nalavade, was depressed due to his wife's prolonged ailment. According to the Borivali police, Nalavade lived at Jay Cooperative Housing Society with his wife and an eight-year-old son.
Till six months ago, he worked as a manager with a Pune-based bank, following which he resigned and moved back to the city to look after his wife who had been diagnosed with blood cancer. He had been unemployed since.
"Nalavade's family members did not suspect foul play. We have registered a case of accidental death," said Bhagwan Chate, senior inspector, Borivali police.
In another instance from Borivali on Saturday, a 32-year old man hanged himself with a shawl. Police said the deceased, Rahul Sadanand Kamble was depressed because he suffered major losses in his business. Kamble was a resident of Nandanvan Society near Gorai and stayed with his parents, brother and sister-in-law. He was an MMRDA contractor.
"His family has said that due to the losses, Kamble had been depressed and had stp interacting with everyone around. No foul play is suspected by the family," Chate said.
