For, the aim is to 'make a world of difference by hearing each other and healing the earth', "as we are all in this together," says Navalpreet Rangi, who, along with PU's Urdu & Persian Literary Society, announced a film festival on Punjab. "The festival will screen documentaries that will focus on theme, topics and the spirit of Inquilab," tells Naval. Starting November 18 till 20, the festival will take place at the Panjab University auditorium. "And you are all invited to share the traditions, culture and spiritual spirit of 'Chardi Kala' contributed by historical Punj-aab, through this media of documentary film festival. All these films have a link to historical Punj-aab even though they have been produced and have won awards in international film festivals abroad," he adds. As part of the festival, the organisers will be running an impressive slide show of rare photographs taken during the revolution and World War. Along with this, a Mashaal Yatra will be taken out from Student Centre, PU at 5:30pm on November 18 followed by the slide show. The following day will have a sufi night by Mamta Joshi and screening of documentaries on martyrs of war and freedom. "Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev, Kartar Singh Sarabha, Sardar Mal Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shaheed Udham Singh et al. Their families will also make it to the festival," adds Naval who is keeping all the politics out and looking forward to taking the festival to Melbourne, Australia in December and London.
