Vicchivora case: Police recommend fast-tracking

Manpada Police have recommended that the case of Santosh Vicchivora, who died fighting a bunch of eve-teasers troubling his friend in Dombivali last year, be tried in a fast-track court.

Vicchivora (20) of Deslepada in Dombivali (East) and a girl from the same locality were walking home on December 3 when a group of five minors passed lewd comments at her.

When he confronted the youths, they allegedly attacked him. Pankaj Pal (18) allegedly stabbed Vicchivora in the chest, kiling him.

Subsequently, the minors were arrested.

"The charge sheet was filed two days ago. We have recommended to the police commissioner to try the case in a fast-track court," said ACP Rajan Ghule said.

The recommendation will now be forwarded to the home department for approval.

Police have also filed a charge sheet against Ajit Kalokhe (24) of Khoni village in Dombivali who was arrested on December 15 for allegedly raping a nine-year-old.

He allegedly lured the girl to a farm and forced himself on her.
