Yuvraj, Zaheer dropped for 4th Test

Dhoni says will remain skipper but may change his style of captaincy

A couple of hours before the team was announced for the fourth and final Test in Nagpur that starts on Thursday, India skipper M S Dhoni said that he was not walking away from captaincy because he wanted to lead the side "when it was not doing well".

After England's six-wicket win at the Eden Gardens made them the first visiting team to record back-to-back Test match victories on Indian soil in over a decade, the national selectors dropped Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh and retained Dhoni as skipper. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, leg-spinner Piyush Chawla and medium-pacer Parvinder Awana were drafted into the side.

Dhoni also indicated that he may change his style of captaincy.

India under Dhoni have now lost six of their last seven Tests against England, which includes the 0-4 loss in an away series last year and the defeats in Mumbai and Kolkata that gave England a 2-1 lead. Sunday's loss at the Eden Gardens was the Indian team's first at the venue in 13 years.

"The easiest thing for me right now is to say 'I quit captaincy' and be a part of the side. But that's like running away from the responsibility. Of course, there are others who will decide (captaincy). There is the BCCI and the administrative people who also want to look into that. For me, my responsibility is to get the team together and be prepared for the next Test match," Dhoni said.

When asked if the defeats in Mumbai and Kolkata would force him to change his style of captaincy, Dhoni said: "It's important to keep changing. We keep altering the plans, preparations, all those subtle things. Outside we can't really change much. You don't want me to start shouting because that's not really me. But with big players, we have a bit more responsibility. You won't see a lot of change from outside but you would see a few more changes when you're part of the dressing room."
